Google, Kemenparekraf, Unity, and AGI Relaunch the Google Play x Unity Game Developer Training Program 2025
In a collaborative move to empower Indonesia’s game development community, Google, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf), Unity Technologies, and the Asosiasi Game Indonesia (AGI) have officially relaunched the Google Play x Unity Game Developer Training Program for 2025.
This initiative aims to support local talent in developing high-quality games that are competitive on a global scale. With Indonesia’s creative economy continuing to grow, the relaunch of this program reflects the increasing importance of the game development sector as both an economic driver and a platform for creative expression.
A Commitment to Nurture Talent
The 2025 edition of the program brings several upgrades and new opportunities for participants. Through a structured training pipeline, aspiring and professional developers will gain access to advanced Unity development tools, mentorship from industry experts, and direct insights into publishing strategies on Google Play.
“The gaming industry in Indonesia has shown impressive growth and potential. We believe that through strategic partnerships and continuous learning, Indonesian developers can compete on the world stage,” said a spokesperson from Google Indonesia.
Government and Industry Collaboration
The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) continues to show strong support for the creative sectors, particularly gaming. In partnership with AGI and Unity, the government seeks to provide not only technical support but also entrepreneurial guidance to ensure sustainable growth within the local gaming ecosystem.
Sandiaga Uno, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, expressed optimism about the program’s impact: “By collaborating with global tech leaders like Google and Unity, we are opening up vast opportunities for our developers to scale, monetize, and export their games.”
What’s New in 2025
Unlike previous editions, the 2025 program will feature a tiered learning structure — beginner, intermediate, and advanced — allowing participants to grow at their own pace. Additionally, selected participants will have the opportunity to showcase their projects in front of investors and publishers at an exclusive demo day.
Registration for the program will begin in May 2025, and interested developers from all over Indonesia are encouraged to apply.
